7 Months Old

Jane turned 7 months old on Friday the 19th. We had family in town so this post is a little late even though we still took these pictures on the 19th.

This month proved to be the month that she has really grown (in size and what she can do) the most. She is all over the place and has a fiery personality. Mr. Hunt and I may have a crazy child on our hands.

Lets get to it....

This month she started drinking a little bit of water from a sippy cup. Since she takes bottles already and will eventually know the motion of tipping the cup to get some more, we decided to teach her and give her the sippy cups with a straw. It was tough at first because she had no clue what to do, but we weren't in a hurry. Just a few days after giving it to her at every meal and many of the times she would just chew on the straw, she finally figured it out on her own. Now she is a pro at the straw and loves to have some water with her meals.

We have officially got rid of the swaddle. She was busting out of them and it woke her up trying to get comfortable so we just didn't use it one night and we never looked back. She is all over the crib now, but I know that she can easily find a comfortable position.

on June 22, she had her first puff (which is basically a cheerio). She can pick up food and feed herself but the puffs seem to be too small still and she cant figure out how to get the puff from her palm to her mouth, it tends to get lost in her hand and then she gets frustrated. She loves the puffs though so I help her out while eating them. The next day we gave her her  first mum mum and she loved it. Those are easier because they are big. She can definitely feed herself those with no problem.

On June 27th she popped up on her knees for the first time. She liked rocking back and forth but couldn't figure out the crawling part yet. She would also plank and put her butt in the air too like she was walking like a bear.

She loves when we make clicking noises with our tongues. This is the first thing that she copied us on. She loves doing it too. This is definitely the first noise besides blabbering that she has made. Clicking and a definite way to make she smile no matter what.

She learned to splash in the tub and she does it all the time now.

She sat in the grocery cart for the first time without the car seat. She loves to look around at everything.

She stayed in her first hotel/resort and did really well.

She celebrated her first 4th of July and she actually loved the fireworks despite it being way past her bedtime.

She played in the sand for the first time. Although it still wasn't the beach (it was a mock beach at the resort going into the pool), she loved the sand and we cant wait to take her to a real beach.

Mr. Hunt loves to let Jane try food. I don't really know how I feel about it, but I figure it can't hurt too much if its just a tiny piece of something. Its never anything crazy with seasonings or anything, but he gave her a tiny piece of his pulled pork that he made and she loved it.

She officially (as of July 12) can scoot/army crawl/crawl towards things she wants now. Mostly its to the iPhone or the computer. Alot of times we try to get her to crawl towards a toy she wont and then get mad. Its not what you think crawling looks like quite yet and its not fast, but she's getting there.

Her first official word was said this month....DADA! Mr. Hunt is thrilled!

She has discovered her feet this month. I thought this would happen alot sooner, but I know all babies are different. She likes to put her feet in her mouth.

She knows her name for sure now. We thought she might have known it for awhile, but now its for sure. If we call her name she will turn to look at us every time.

She can play peek a boo. We don't call it that though. She will put something over her face and I will say "Where's Jane?" then she will remove it and I will say "there she is" This is the one thing this month that has amazed me. I cant believe that she is that smart to know that if she puts something over her face, we will play that, and then do it over and over and over. She is so smart.

Its becoming harder to put her to sleep. I used to be able to rock her a little and then put her down half asleep and she would be good. Now, I have to rock her to sleep until she is 100% out, and then carefully put her in the crib. If her eyes open at all during the transfer or if I put her in the crib half awake, she will stay awake and play in the crib until I go back in and rock her to sleep. It doesn't matter how tired she is. She wont cry or be mad or sad, she will just play and talk to herself for hours. Also, while I'm trying to rock her to sleep she thinks its play time. She pulls her paci out and tries to put it in my mouth or throw it on the floor. She tries to crawl up my body. She pulls my hair and grabs my mouth or nose and laughs. Its just getting alot harder and I think I need to figure something else out.

Not sure how she got the trash to her sticker, but it distracted her from trying to get the camera.

One time when I was rocker her to sleep, she was finally asleep and right as I was getting ready to put her in the crib, she smiled and let out a little giggle. This was the first time that Ive seen her laugh in her sleep and it melted my heart.

She reaches for us when we go to pick her up. Its the cutest thing.

She is NOT afraid to let us know how she feels. This month she has been whining alot. I keep thinking/hoping that once she learns to really crawl to everything she wants, she will stop whining. She never really cries, its just this annoying whine that she does when she wants something or can't get to something. I don't always give in and the whining doesn't stop.

She has starting climbing already. She thinks she can pull up on the couch and the ottoman and always quickly learns that she can't stand very well and falls back down to her bottom which them startles her. She doesn't care, and starts over. She also climbs all over Mr. Hunt and I if we are on the floor with her. Girl is a monkey.

Her hair has grown alot this month.

Still NO teeth!

Mr. Hunt also gave her a slice of orange and a small piece of whole wheat bread when we were out to breakfast one day. She liked both of them. The girl likes food.

She is now eating:
puffs
rice cereal
mum mum
banana
green beans
squash
carrots (only had this once and didn't really like them but still going to try)
peaches
sweet potatoes
apples
pears

The only thing so far that she definitely doesn't like is avocados.

Little girl Jane,

Mommy and Daddy have loved seeing you really grow this month. You are all over the place and you love life. Its fun to see you discover new things each and every day. Its like we are also discovering the same things with you all over again. Keep being the little, pretty, confident little girl that you are.

Love,
Mom
