8 Months Old

This is late, but better late than never. The pictures were taken on her actual 8 month birthday though. This month is looking a little different since we were on vacation in Bluffton. So its a different chair and no Teddy this month. Gotta do what you gotta do. This was also almost nap time so the end of the photo shoot went downhill fast as you will soon see.

I know I say this every month, but Jane has changed so much in just one month.

First things first, still NO teeth! I cannot believe it. Being a first time mommy I can look back and laugh at how I thought for sure she was teething at 3 months and for the past 5 months anytime Jane was cranky, I would blame teething....looks like I was way wrong. I'm not mentioning teething anymore until I see some coming through.

On July 19th Jane rode in a swing for the first time. Aunt Rachel and Uncle Michael were in town and we were eating at our neighborhood restaurant Freddies. There is a playground and Jane loved the swing! Shes been in it a few more times and it just gets better and better each time.

On July 20th Jane went from laying on her belly to sitting up on her own. Looking back, its crazy to think she did this for the first time this past month because she does it without even thinking or trying now just one short month later.

Jane loves to copy us when we clap. We can also tell her to clap clap and she will.

She is one of the happiest babies Ive ever met only crying when she is really hungry or really tired.

I'm pretty sure Jane can give kisses. She can definitely give kisses to herself in the mirror, but if we pucker up and say "mmmmmmm" she will lean in, mouth wide open for a kiss.

I styled Jane's hair for the first time (not just a headband or bow) in pigtails this month. I haven't done it again since it took awhile to get in and she pulled them out right away. I think she needs just a little but more hair. Speaking of hair, her hair is growing so fast and I'm loving it.

On July 28th, Jane went into the church nursery for the first time. She did great, NO CRYING! All the ladies in the nursery said she is like a live baby doll.

Jane can now pull up on anything without even thinking about it. She also can stand holding on with only one hand and sometimes tries to let go all together. This girl has no fear. She can also go from standing to sitting back down without falling over.

Since she is pulling up, we had to lower her crib mattress on July 29th so that she doesn't tip over the top.

Jane got a little runny nose this month that never really turned into anything major thank goodness. I think it was probably from the church nursery.

Jane transferred to the big girl tub this month. She as trying to climb out of the baby one which was making it too dangerous. Only problem now is that she loves to pull up and stand in the tub which gives me many heart attacks every night during bath time.

We used bubbles in the bath tub for the first time (August 4) and she loved it! Its not something we will do every night since it makes it more slippery and also a little harder to rinse off, but its definitely a special treat that she loves.

This is where she started to lose interest in the photo shoot.

Jane knows what splash and shake means. When we say splash, she will splash in the tub and when we say shake she will shake what ever is in her hand at the time. This is one of those things that blows my mind. I cannot believe my little baby knows what we are saying and can do what we tell her.

Another thing that blows my mind is that she can wave hi and bye. Its the cutest thing Ive ever seen. She will randomly wave to people in the grocery store too which I know makes some people's day.

We went to Bluffton (where and when these pictures were taken) to visit family. Jane met some more family for the first time

Great Grandmamma Geri
Great Aunt Mary Alice
Ali
Sam
Daniel
Great Uncle T-Buddy
Great Aunt Amy

She also got to spend time with my side of the family (more on that in the next few posts)

Jane loves to eat. We are now feeding her three times a day instead of two and she eats all sorts of food....too many to name. She is getting better and better at finger foods and loves to feed herself.

Jane has been on a total of 10 flights in her short 8 months of life. Id say she is a master flyer by now. She still has 10 more to go until her first birthday. That will be 20 flights in her first year of life! WoW!

I just weighed her on the scale we have here at home and she is exactly 20lbs. Holy Moly!

Sadly she isn't sleeping through the night anymore. I'm still not sure what the problem is but she gets up for the paci again. Some nights when I go in to give her the paci she is wide awake and will stay wide awake for an hour and other times she goes right back to sleep. I hope its just a phase or we can figure out the problem soon because its wearing on us.

Look at this face. "what are you doing mom?"

Jane,
Mom and Dad are so impressed with everything you do these days. We find ourselves just staring at you and taking in all your facial expressions and what makes you happy. Every month seems to be the most fun so we cant wait to experience the next few months until your first birthday! We love you dearly.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy
