Mr. Hunt and I had a great time ringing in the new year with friends and family. We actually went on a little 3 day vacation.
On Saturday, New Years Eve, we hopped on a plane to Orlando Florida with our friends Ryan and Whitney Tate. This was the first time ever I have rode first class on a plane and now I'm spoiled. I loved it, but who wouldn't right?
Once we got there we picked up our rental car and headed to grab something to eat before meeting Michael and Rachel at the resort we were staying at. We hung out around the resort for awhile before we had to start getting ready for a New Years Eve celebration.
It was Whitney's birthday so we let her pick where we went for dinner. She knew a few people who live in Orlando and they suggested a very nice restaurant called Ocean Prime.
It was similar to Ruth's Chris where everything was a la carte. Everything was very yummy, including Whitney's birthday dessert.
After dinner we went into downtown where we attended a street party that we bought tickets for. It was so much fun! I didn't bring my camera though because I didn't want to carry it around the whole time, so no pictures. Basically, a section of the street was closed off and we had access to about four different bars, or just drinking outside on the street. It got so crowded towards the end, that we couldn't even move. Once it struck midnight and we had our midnight kisses, we walked back to the car. It got so crazy towards the end. People were throwing and being hit by full bottles of beer and champagne. We also left right after midnight because we had big plans for New Years Day.
The next morning we woke up at 8am so that we could get to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at a decent time. Mr. Hunt, Michael and Rachel love Harry Potter. I have seen all the movies and enjoyed them, but I'm not as big of a fan as they are. We all four got tickets to Harry Potter for Christmas from Kaki so we were pretty excited. We had heard a few days earlier that the parks were getting so overcrowded this time of year so we wanted to get there early.
So after finally falling asleep around 2am the night before, we were up and on our way around 8:30am. Again, I didn't bring my camera because I knew we were going to be riding a bunch of rides that wouldn't allow me to have a huge camera in tow, so you will just have to use your imagination on this one. Ill give you a little help though. We headed straight for the Harry Potter section, only stopping once at Mr. Hunt and I's favorite ride, Spider Man since it was only a 5 minute wait. Lets just say this, the whole park was empty, except for the Harry Potter section. We spent most of the time there. We waited one hour for the Harry Potter Experience ride and it shut down TWICE while we were on it. That was kind of scary.
After Harry Potter world we made our way around the rest of Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. We had a great time, but when we left, we were exhausted!
That evening we all just laid low. Whitney and Ryan didn't come to the parks with us, they stayed and laid by the pool all day so they were ready to relax more once we got back. We just ordered pizza and watched football that evening.
The next day was GAME DAY! We packed up the resort and headed to the game around 9am.
We didn't stay at the car and tailgate, instead we headed over to the Pep Rally. We got to walk around and then see the team walk in from the bus.
See Steve in the left corner of this picture?
Here is the back of his head
I got a thumbs up!
Here comes Lattimore. He wasn't limping or anything. I hear he will be able to run again in a few weeks! Wooo!
Lattimore again
I love Alshon for a few reasons, but the main one is because I wear his jersey!
Back of Alshon's head
Last, but not least, Connor Shaw!
After the parade of the team, we headed over to the pep rally. This was the view of the band that I had....good enough!
Then it was game time. I am so happy to say that we beat Nebraska 30 to 13! This made it our 11th win of the season. The gamecocks have never ever won 11 times in one season and I was there to witness that! It was so fun, exciting, and awesome to be apart of.
See that score? YAY!
After the game we had to rush to the airport to fly home. We had just enough time to return the rental car and grab something to eat. Sadly this time we didn't fly first class....see? I might be spoiled. Ooops!
All in all it was a great trip! The lady at the doggy day care said that Hannah wasn't happy the last day and that she wanted to go home, which made me a little sad, but other than that, everything was great! I will say though, after screaming on New Years Eve, screaming on all the rides we rode, and screaming at the football game, I have no voice and my throat hurts. It was all worth it though!
Happy New Year,
Jennifer
