Joe's Knows

Ok, I know I constantly talk about things that we miss about the east coast and of course family is the #1 thing that we miss, but the FOOD is a close close second (yeah, not even the beach or the ocean or boats....nope FOOD). Most of you know Mr. Hunt and I well, and we are food people. So far, Jane is too and we are loving it. 

Anyway, we miss the east coast food alot. We miss the BBQ, we miss the Bojangles, and we miss the seafood! So, in a desperate need for a seafood fix we headed to Joe's Crab Shack right down the street from our house. Now, not to be snobby or anything, but back at the east coast we really wouldn't have even gone here, the chain seafood places aren't usually the best and if we are going to enjoy some seafood, might as well get the best kind. But this was all we have here and like I said, we were desperate!

They gave us adult bibs. I wore mine, Mr. Hunt didn't wear his. 

Mr. Hunt and I decided to share a pot of what we would call Lowcountry Boil or Frogmore Stew back at the east coast. They call it something like Chesapeake something something. Its Snow crab (which is a bonus for lowcountry boil or frogmore stew since usually that's not included), shrimp, sausage, potatoes, and corn on the cob. At Joe's you can also choose what its cooked in.....we of course chose Old Bay seasoning which we learned that most people here in Austin don't even know what that is. Blows my mind!

We both weren't expecting too much since we aren't really near the ocean at all, but holy YUM! It was delicious and messy, just like we like it. Not really sure if it was extra good because we've missed it so much or if it was really that good, but that doesn't matter, we enjoyed it.

The restaurant is on the river and has a great view of the city which Mr. Hunt always enjoys.

We also got lucky and timed our visit well because when we left we got to see the bats coming out from under the Congress Street bridge. Google it.....its awesome and this was the first time we got to see it in person since its normally Jane's bedtime.

It was so good, weve already gone back and probably will a whole bunch more.
