About a month ago I noticed a small bump on the right side of Jane's nose. The catch was that it only appeared when she smiled, and only when she smiled really big, so I didn't see it often.
In the back of my mind I knew that my little brother had a blocked tear duct and has a glass tube in for his tear duct now, so I was a little concerned. But it didn't seem to bother her what so ever so I really wasn't that concerned.
One day I just decided to give her doctor a call. Just to see if they thought it was a blocked tear duct too. I read that alot of babies actually get them since the ducts are still so small they are easily blocked and they can drain and become unblocked on their own. Well, of course, the doctor wanted to see us. I should have known better.
So we went and we just spent the entire time trying to get Jane to smile, but of course she didn't. I showed them the pictures and all they could tell me was that I needed to go to the Ear Nose and Throat doctor instead. Ugh, I really didn't want to make this into a huge thing, but I of course didn't want something to be wrong with her and me just ignore it.
After calling the ENT place, they didn't have an opening for an entire month. I guess it wasn't as important as it seemed then.
Long story short, I took her in and the doctor looked in her nose, eyes, and ears and saw nothing. He tried for awhile to get her to smile, but again, no luck. He also mentioned that it was silly that we were there if we thought it was a blocked tear duct because that would be an eye doctor. That kind of annoyed me, but since he thought it wasn't a blocked tear duct and that it wasn't anything, I was fine.
He basically just said that since it only appears when she smiles then he doesn't think its anything serious. If it were bothering her or blocking her breathing, or there when she wasn't smiling also, then he would be worried.
So, two appointments for a clean bill of health. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it. Part of me thinks that maybe its just her skin folding when she smiles and it doesn't do that on the other side....I don't know.
So after a long morning at the office, I come home to Mr. Hunt at the house for lunch. What a great surprise! I hadn't even taken Jane out of her car seat when I look down at Hannah and see this....
Yep, her eye is swollen. I couldn't even look at it, it was making my stomach feel sick. The white part was swollen and the actual eye part wasn't. It was so weird. Mr. Hunt had a little more time for his lunch break and he rushed us all to the vet. Thank goodness he was there.
Turns out it was just an allergic reaction to something. I hate when they cant tell us what is going on, but I understand that it could have been anything. I swear, if it isn't one things with these fur babies, its another. But we love them and wouldn't trade all the vet visits for anything. After just two days with inflammatory eye drops, benedryl, and a sleepy puppy, her eye was back to normal. So strange.
So we've had a crazy couple of days with Ear, Nose, Throat, and Eye stuff. I guess that's what happens when you're a Mommy.
Love Ya!
