Spring Break: Day 7 AKA Last Day

On Saturday morning we got ready and left the house by 8:30am, right on time. We stopped at the grocery store for coffee and donuts which we were all craving after talking about it the night before, then we hit the road for the hour and a half drive to San Antonio.
First stop, The Alamo.

This was the side entrance to one of the buildings. Unfortunately, we couldn't take any pictures inside. You can also see sleepy Davis on the bottom. I don't blame him, we woke up early and just got out of the car from the long ride.

So I can't take pictures inside, but I can of the fishies outside. I could have sat there and watched them for hours.

Here is the famous outside front view. We went inside to learn a little more about The Alamo, but again, no pictures aloud....sorry.

They have really kept the grounds of The Alamo pretty.

After touring The Alamo, we were headed to Sea World. I honestly can't believe that I have never been to Sea World before. I was in Orlando Florida sometimes twice a year growing up for all sorts of dance competitions and family vacations, and somehow never made it there. Davis, on the other hand, had been twice, but obviously never to the San Antonio one.
The lines were ridiculous to get in and the crowds were annoying, but that's what you get when you watch the shows and there are thousands of people coming and leaving at the same time.

We only got to see one show this time. The show was called Azul and it had beluga whales, dolphins, and birds.

These guys swung back and forth until they got high enough to launch off. Kind of scary.

By the time the show was over and we made it out of the stadium, we tried to walk quickly to the next show that had Shamu in it, but by the time we got there, it was full. So we kept going. The boys rode two roller coasters. The wait was only 5 minutes for each one, I guess people would rather see the animals when they come to Sea World, than ride the rides.

We met this little (big) guy. I kinda felt bad for him because he was by himself.

Then we saw the penguins.

Then we walked over to the dolphins and the sharks.

This little pool had dolphins in them that you could feed. We were there at the wrong time, but we still got to put our hands in the water to touch them..if they let you.

Do you see Mr. Hunt at the corner of the pool? He went missing, and then I spotted him. He was determined to pet one.

I could sit all day in the air condition building and look at the fish. Sometimes I wish I were a fish. They seem like they have the life. Minus the whole running away from the sharks part.

Sea World was great. The one thing I learned was that you really have to plan your trip. Almost everything is timed so if you don't know what you are doing, you will miss everything. We didn't do a great job of that, but there is always next time. Also, they are building a water park that is opening in May, so we will definitely go back.

We really wanted to take Michael and Davis to the Saltlick Barbecue Restaurant. We took Rachel to one when she came to visit before and we thought that the boys would enjoy it. We decided to go to the original one that is about an hour away from our house, but it was on the way home from San Antonio. We got there around 5:30pm and there was already an hour and a half wait. This Saltlick was totally different than the others and we cant wait to go back. Its BYOB! They have an entire outside area to sit and relax with live music. Of course we didn't know it was BYOB, but we saw some others bring huge coolers of drinks and snacks to eat while waiting. Such a great idea. They also had places for you to buy some drinks, fresh lemonade, and popcorn while you waited.

I loved this little girl. She sat down right in front of the people singing and ate her popcorn.

We were having a great time in the perfect weather, listening to music and drinking that the hour and a half flew by. Before we knew it, we were ready to be sat. The food was just as good as he last time we went. TONS of food!

Next time we will be prepared. We will bring a cooler of drinks, cash (because its cash only), snacks, and our patience. This is such a great place.
After we ate, we were so full, but we had to make it back home. Davis, Rachel, and Michael had to be at the airport the next day by 5:30am and the airport is 45 minutes away so we had to leave EARLY!

We had a GREAT time with our family. I'm so glad that they wanted to visit. It really shows that they missed us already! I really hope Davis had a great Spring Break. He decided to spend his ENTIRE week with us....we felt so special. I can't wait for them to come back. If it were up to me, we would have visitors every weekend.

Who's next? Someone come see us!!!

Love,
Jennifer
